The Battle for Cyber Security

March 27th, 2017 by admin

We’ve been noticing an alarming trend regarding cyber security. Actually, more so a lack of security. One of the best practices on the frontline of security is your password. Unfortunately, this is an area that a lot of people will gloss over, often relying on simple and easy to remember phrases and numbers. It’s important to remember that using things such as your SSN, address, pet’s name, favorite color, zip code, and a plethora of other uncomplicated & accessible items are not viable, nor safe passwords to use to protect your important information and data.

Cyber Security

A strong password should consist of both upper & lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Passwords should either be committed to memory, or written down and placed in a secure location. Also, it is a wise practice to change your password every 6-9 months.

If you haven’t changed your password lately, it’s probably a good idea to do so. If you’ve never changed your password, i.e. still have the default passwords in place for your equipment, it is imperative to go ahead and put in place a strong, unique phrase. At ATS, we take a proactive approach to ensure your network is stable & reliable, and integrate strong measures to make sure your data is secure. But the first battle in the war starts at your fingertips.
