The Latest Cyber Security Threats That Are Currently Prevalent in Today's Business

Dear ATS Customer,

This email notification is designed to inform you of the latest Cyber Security Threats that are currently prevalent in the business world today, and to assure ATS customers who are currently enrolled in our PRO-IT services of the steps that ATS has taken to address them.

ATS has made the substantial investment of high end systems to protect against and mitigate the spread of cyber security threats that may compromise our PRO-IT clients. The following are recent and viable cyber threats that are circulating, and the proactive steps that ATS has taken to respond to them:

  • Kaseya Ransomware Attack: Ransomware is a form of malware (malicious software) that attempts to encrypt (scramble) your data and then extort a ransom to release an unlock code. Most ransomware is delivered via malicious emails. hackers were able to distribute ransomware by exploiting several vulnerabilities in the Kaseya VSA software.
    • ATS does not utilize this software platform nor does it install it on ATS PRO-IT customer's systems.
  • Print Nightmare: Hackers have begun to target printers and multifunctional devices specifically due to their perceived lax security.

ATS PRO-IT clients are protected from these threats by employing:

    • Proactive Security Patching
    • Advanced endpoint protection
    • Email Security
  • Please if you notice anything out of the ordinary please do not hesitate to have us look at it. Remember You are one our front lines of defense against threats.

Here Are Some Steps You Can Take to Reinforce Your Organization's Cyber Security Framework and Keep It Shielded from Cyber-Attacks

  • Business Continuity Solution: Ensure your business continuity and backup solutions are up to date and functioning.
  • Generate Cyber Security Awareness: Unaware employees can prove to be an organization's biggest weakness when it comes to cyber security. Generating awareness among your employees about the prevalent and emerging cyber threats is one of the most effective ways of protecting your business against cyber-attacks. ATS can help by providing you with cyber security awareness training tools like PII Protect to educate your employees.
  • 2FA or Two-factor Authentication: Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a specific type of multi-factor authentication (MFA) that strengthens access security by requiring two methods (also referred to as authentication factors) to verify your identity. These factors can include something you know - like a username and password - plus something you have - like a smartphone app - to approve authentication requests.
  • Use Strong Passwords and Use a Password Management Tool
  • Beware of Phishing Scams: Be very suspicious of emails and phone calls.
    • Don't open email from people you don't know
    • Know which links are safe and which are not - hover over a link to discover where it directs you to. Look for https:// in the web address to ensure it's a secure site
    • Malicious links can come from friends who have been infected too. So, be extra careful!

ATS PRO-IT customers can rest assured that we've taken every step that we can to ensure the integrity and safety of your network computing environment. If you're not an ATS PRO-IT customer yet, please call 1-800-995-4287 to see how you can protect your company's users, data and computing environment.

We understand our clients have an array of security policies in place. With today's security environment, please consider making it a priority to review them.
